West Clear Creek

July, 2003

For our fourth straight Saturday of streamside frolicking, we chose West Clear Creek east of Camp Verde. We hiked from swimming hole to swimming hole, leaving the trail behind and scrambling along the creek bed. At the base of a soaring red cliff was the mother lode: a stony-bottomed pool a good 50 yards long, with our own private water slide.

As always, Mother Nature let us know when it was time to take our toys and go home.
