Rocky Canyon

April 6, 2023

There was no dramatic scenery on this hike. It was just a nice walk in the woods.

Although this is part of the Continental Divide Trail, it's no longer the preferred route. The sign has seen better days.

The trail was in good shape, but the stream was badly torn up and full of debris — probably from the Black Fire.

Sometimes all you need is the dappled light of a piñon juniper forest, the crunch of yellow grass underfoot, and that bluest of blue skies.

We checked out a couple of side canyons and found some fun hoodoos.

On the way home, we drove out Sheep Corral Road to Lookout Point.

Complete with helipad, and look at all that snow on the north side of Tadpole Ridge!
